![]() ![]() ![]() I took it back to the genius bar, they told me that they didn't even have the parts to fix it but that if I took it to an authorized repair center that had the parts then Apple would still cover the cost of the repair. I called Apple from the store and after getting bounced around to a couple different people, finally got a senior tech on the phone who approved an override and told me to take it back to the genius bar to get repaired. The techs told me they couldn't fix it because of the vintage status (I was a whole 7 days too late). I just went through this exact same thing - I took my computer in on January 7th because it was having 5-10 kernel panics every hour since upgrading to Sierra.
